New services for disabilities, LSDs and other needs

If you have a disability, a specific learning disorder (DSA), or another condition recognized as a Special Educational Need (BES)—such as a neurodevelopmental disorder, a diagnosed psychiatric disorder, or a disabling medical condition (even a temporary one)—Sapienza offers a support program designed to help you study, take exams, and participate in university life in the way that best suits your needs.
As of June 2026, this program has been enhanced to provide even better support and to make it easier to locate and activate; here is how it works and what you need to do.
Are you a first year student?
1. Declare your status in Infostud (if not already done).
2. Fill the request to register for the service, as indicated on the dedicated page of the Sapienza website:
3. The University's central service validates the certifications you have submitted. The certifications deemed valid for accessing services and support are governed by the Regulation.
If you have a disability or civil invalidity certificate, send it to servizio.disabilita@uniroma1.it
If you have a LSD certificate, send it to servizio.dsa@uniroma1.it;
If you have other special educational needs, send your certificate to either servizio.disabilita@uniroma1.it or servizio.dsa@uniroma1.it
4. The University's central service prepares a draft of a form (operational sheet) containing your needs and compensative/dispensative measures, academic skill enhancement programs, as well as guidelines for adapting teaching methods and assessments. It also assigns LIS (Italian Sign Language) and tactile LIS interpreters, and manages financial aid, exemptions, and mobility arrangements.
Are you enrolled in a year beyond the first?
Go to the second step.
Once your certificate has been verified, you can contact the Faculty service to:
1) complete the operational sheet
2) request mediation or the implementation of the measures to which you are entitled for attending classes and taking exams.

How will you find in your Faculty?
A Tutor Specialized Inclusion Tutor (TSI) who prepares and updates your operational sheet, monitors your academic progress over time, and—if situations arise requiring specific support (e.g., logistical support for accessibility, exam accommodations, etc.)—assists you or directs you to the appropriate services (such as psychological support or cognitive enhancement programs). To receive all the support and assistance you need, contact:

The Faculty Liaison who is informed of your needs by the TSI and intervenes if difficulties arise regarding an exam or a professor.

Peer tutors. If your operational sheet includes it, you may be assigned a Peer Tutor—a fellow student who offers practical support (e.g., helping you take notes during lectures, reading study materials if needed, accompanying you around the Faculty premises, etc.). The Peer Tutor always works under the supervision of the TSI and the Faculty Liaison.
